FM Zarif meets NZ trade min.

TEHRAN, Mar. 14 (MNA) – Iranian foreign minister Zarif met and talked with New Zealand’s trade minister in Wellington on Monday.


Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met New Zealand’s Trade Minister Todd McClay on Monday morning and the two sides investigated obstacles on the way of strengthening bilateral ties particularly in the field of banking services.

During the visit, Iran’s Zarif discussed venues for bilateral cooperation in several fields including energy, petrochemicals, tourism, ports, transport, agriculture, nanotechnology as well as human resources especially in engineering areas.

The official also urged the trade minister of New Zealand to make a visit to Tehran in near future.

Todd McClay, for his part, said the exact time of his visit to Iran will be set in near future; “mutual collaboration between the two countries can be reinvigorated in several areas,” he noted.

In a separate meeting, Iran’s Zarif and New Zealand’s Labour Party Leader Andrew Little conferred on international developments as well as mutual cooperation between the two countries.

The Iranian FM touched upon the good relations between the two sides during the office of the Labor Party stressing “Iran would always pursue the policy of expanding ties with New Zealand.”

Andrew Little, for his part, emphasized the need to foster relations between Iran and New Zealand and asked Zarif certain questions on regional and international developments.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in New Zealand capital, Wellington, early Saturday as the fifth leg of his Asia-Pacific tour.
