TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Zobahan of Iran moved up to top of Group B of the 2016 AFC Champions League after defeating Uzbekistan’s Bunyodkor 5-2 in Isfahan’s Foolad Shahr Stadium on Tuesday.
First half goals from Danial Esmaeilifar and Vahid Mohammadzadeh sent Yahya Golmohammadi’s side on its way to victory before further goals from Mahdi Rajabzadeh and Kaveh Rezaei in the second half sealed all three points.
Minori Sato claimed Bunyodkor’s first 13 minutes from time while Zobahan’s Morteza Tabrizi and Shakhzodbek Murmatov of Bunyodkor found the back of the net in the dying minutes.
The win – coupled with Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr’s 4-0 loss at the hands of Lekhwiya in Doha – moves Zobahan three points clear at the top of Group B with just two games remaining in the group stages.
Bunyodkor, meanwhile, dropped to the bottom of the standings and remained on two points.
