The 9/11 attack is under the spotlight again thanks to Saudi Arabia which US President Barack Obama plans to visit on April 21.
Secretary of State John Kerry visited the kingdom on Friday to reassure its officials of the importance of US-Saudi ties and reassert Washington’s confrontational ways with Iran because that’s the de facto protocol aligning them.
Interestingly enough, a federal judge in New York ruled last month that Iran was liable for damages in the 9/11 terror attacks in 2001. He ordered Iran to pay almost $11 billion in compensation to families of victims killed on 9/11 and to insurance companies who covered those suffering damages in the attack.
The ruling sparked a wave of derision from the Iranian government and many independent observers who denounced it as a travesty of justice.
The entire mainstream Western media, however, fell for the official narrative without challenging its relevance. Missing from that narrative was the fact that Iran is the most impossible link to 9/11 because al-Qaeda, as the mastermind of the terrorist attacks, is a sworn enemy of the Iranians and Shia Muslims in general.
Most of the attackers in 9/11 were Saudi nationals who hijacked planes and flew them into the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and into a field in Pennsylvania. In contrast, not a single Iranian has been implicated in the attack or, for that matter, in any other terrorist attack.
Classified intel and agenda
But what muddles the justice outcome and undermines its pursuit is the US government’s refusal to share everything it knows about the September 11 attacks, including 28 pages on foreign government links to the hijackers.
While keeping the findings of a congressional intelligence inquiry under wraps, the US government has been using the attacks to advance its agenda. It used them as a pretext to invade Iraq which had nothing to do with the attacks, maintaining close ties with Saudi Arabia instead.

Experience in Iraq and elsewhere has shown that Washington is not worried how far-fetched its accusations are because the mainstream media has always acted as the troll army and helped it drive the message home.
In the most recent case, Iran has been accused of helping to facilitate the 9/11 attacks, giving al-Qaeda agents “critical training and support” without any circumstantial evidence.
Al-Qaeda is affiliated with the extreme Wahhabist sect which is widely preached in Saudi Arabia and has pledged to eliminate all Shias. Wahabbism and Salafism is also the same ideology which has led to the creation of Daesh and other Takfiri groups.
In 2015, former US Defense Intelligence Agency head Michael Flynn confirmed in an interview with Al Jazeera that it was a “willful decision” of the Obama administration to team up with Salafists and al-Qaeda in Syria back in 2012.
A US intelligence report from August 2012 stated that "the possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist principality in eastern Syria" was "exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime.”
Those supporting powers include Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Turkey, and their Western allies which allege to be bombing terrorists in the region under a US-led coalition.
CBS spotlight?
With Obama travelling to Saudi Arabia, the CBS News says it plans to put foreign support of the 9/11 hijackers under spotlight. The channel’s 60 Minutes says it will air a segment on the topic on Sunday, April 10 at 7 pm ET/PT.
Former senator Bob Graham who co-chaired the inquiry that wrote the 28 pages, has said, “The 28 pages primarily relate to who financed 9/11 and they point a very strong finger at Saudi Arabia as being the principal financier.”
He has also said that, by shielding Saudi Arabia from scrutiny of its sponsorship of Takfirism, the continued classification of the inquiry has encouraged their continued sponsorship and paved the way for the rise of Daesh.
Declassification could wreck Saudi ties
US Congressman Thomas Massie has described the experience of reading the 28 pages as “shocking” and said, “I had to stop every couple pages and…try to rearrange my understanding of history. It challenges you to rethink everything.”
“I don’t know how President Obama can claim that he is running a federal government that prides itself in transparency when, at the same time, he denies the American people the opportunity to better understand the circumstances behind the 9/11 attack on our soil,” Colorado Congressman Mike Coffman has said.
According to Graham, the release of the 28 pages will have broad ramifications.
“The 28 pages are very important, and will…inform the American people and, in so doing, cause the American government to reconsider the nature of our relationship with Saudi Arabia.”
