Tehran, May 3, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that Muslim countries should get united in the campaign against terrorism.
Speaking to visiting Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato' Sri Anifah Aman, President Rouhani said that unfortunately, today certain terrorist groups, who have nothing to do with genuine Islam, commit their crimes in the name of Islam and Jihad and Muslim countries should unite to fight terrorism.
He underlined that there is no obstacle on the way of expansion of cooperation in all areas between Iran and Malaysia.
He hoped that with formation of the joint Iran-Malaysia Cooperation Commission and in proportion to the capacity of the two sides, a serious drive will be observed in Tehran-Kuala Lumpur cooperation.
He said the world of Islam is today facing extensive intricacies and the big and influential Muslim countries should through solidarity play their religious and humanitarian role to end hostility, ease problems and establish peace and stability in the world of Islam.
The Malaysian Foreign Minister in turn emphasized that Kuala Lumpur is determined to expand cooperation with Iran in all domains.
In the post-sanctions era, Iran and Malaysia should upgrade cooperation in the fields of science, tourism and economy given their extensive facilities and potential.
He said it is refretable that certain terrorist measures are carried out in the name of Islam which is the religion of passion and peace. 'All Muslims should get united to solve problems facing the world of Islam and Iran and Malaysia can cooperate in this field. The problems of the world should be settled through engagement and not militarism.'
He then invited President Rouhani on behalf of the Malaysian prime minister to pay an official visit to Kuala Lumpur.
