TEHRAN, May 10 (MNA) – Head of Securities and Exchange Organization of Iran (SEO) is participating in the Annual Conference of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) underway in Peru.
IOSCO has officially invited Mohammad Fatanat, Head of Iran’s SEO, to participate in the Affiliate Members Consultative Committee as part of IOSCO Annual Conference which is taking place on May 8-12 in Peru’s Lima.
Fatanat is also slated to take part in Growth and Emerging Markets Committee as well as Africa/Middle East Regional Committee of the event.
The Iranian official will also deliver a speech on Wednesday at the Presidents Committee Meeting where the joining of Iran’s SEO to IOSCO will be officially announced.
Mohammad Fatanat had earlier pointed to years of effort for joining IOSCO asserting “possessing a long history of activity in the securities market, Iran has managed to join the IOSCO for the first time.”
"Considerable efforts have been made to this end; consequently, Iran’s membership request will be presented at the first coming meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions," he had underlined.
Established in 1983, the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) regulates more than 95% of the world's securities markets in more than 115 jurisdictions; securities regulators in emerging markets account for 75% of its ordinary membership.
IOSCO develops, implements and promotes adherence to internationally recognized standards for securities regulation.
