Warsaw, May 30, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif urged Iranian elite living in foreign countries to help promote Iran’s economic relations with the world.
Talking to a group of Iranian elite figures here on Monday, he said all should make use of the new opportunities opened before the country after the removal of sanctions to enhance Iran’s economic relations.
Though Europe has been a good partner for Iran in economic areas, the minister noted, Iran is not restricticting itself only to European countries but rather seeks to develop relations with all world countries.
Zarif said countries in east or north of Europe could make good partners for Iran in trade activities.
He further explained that this was his first “really” business trip to Europe as a big delegation comprising of private sector businessmen are accompanying him in the economic discussions in four European countries.
He said the nation’s resistance during years of sanctions and its overwhelming participation in elections in 2013 made the world remarkably cut the volume of sanctions.
The foreign minister said Iran should become resistant to sanctions in a way that no other country would ever even think of imposing sanctions on it.
He said Iran is a secure country because security comes from inside and is not dependant on any foreign country, stressing that the same should happen to economy.
Zarif began his four-nation European tour on Sunday leading a politico-economic delegation.
Warsaw was his first destination.
A large group of economic and tradesmen are accompanying Zarif in his visits to Poland, Finland, Sweden and Latvia.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski visited Iran on February 28, 2016, simultaneous with the 540th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Iran and Poland.
Poland became a member of the European Union in year 2004.
