Tehran, June 18, The Iran Project - US continuing to stonewall in post-JCPOA era and the country’s violation of its commitments is not in line with JCPOA spirit, says Iranian reformist lawmaker.
Speaking to a reporter on Thursday, Mostafa Kavakebian, the reformist politician and representative of Tehran in Iranian Parliament referred to the US "empty slogans", saying violation of their commitments goes against the spirit of a lasting nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.
“US actions are against their undertakings in implementation of the JCPOA as they were expected,” the lawmaker said underlining that foreign ministry should take decisive actions over these violations.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the United States, France, Britain, China and Russia – plus Germany started implementing the JCPOA on January 16.
Under the deal, all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran by the European Union, the Security Council and the US would be lifted. Iran has, in return, put some limitations on its nuclear activities.
But, Some Iranian officials complain about the US failure to fully implement the accord. Prior to US breach of JCPOA Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said Americans have yet to fulfill what they were supposed to do as per the nuclear deal.
Ayatollah Khamenei’s remarks came in reaction to the threats by some US presidential hopefuls to scrap last year’s nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), between Iran and the G5+1 group of countries, saying the Islamic Republic will strongly respond to any such move.
