TEHRAN, Jul. 08 (MNA) – Iranian researchers have designed and developed a type of glasses that can detect vision defects and which will soon enter the market.


Dr. Amirhossein Vojdani, ophthalmologist and project manager, told Mehr News correspondent that the device examines the eye to find out the optic nerve disorders in a patient, caused by Multiple Sclerosis (MS) disease, glaucoma, tumors, trauma, etc.

“The device helps record the type of the disease and send it to a doctor through social networks on tablets or smart phones,” he said.

Noting the significance of his product, he said “currently, there is no specific instrument to determine optic nerve disorders and as such, doctors may come up with different diagnoses.”

Vojdani stressed that there is no similar device to his product in any part of the world, saying “at present, a prototype of the device has been developed and patented internationally.”

According to him, the device is able to test for Marcus Gunn pupil (in which the patient's pupils constrict less when a bright light is swung from the unaffected eye to the affected eye), image anterior segment anomalies, and evaluate results by using image processing software, saving and sending it for consultation or educational purposes.
