TEHRAN (ISNA)- China supports lifting sanctions and financial and energy restrictions on Iran, said Chinese Ambassador to Iran Pang Sen.
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and nuclear talks between Iran and P5+1 was a factor which removed the risk of war, he told ISNA in an exclusive interview.
“The experience of talks with Iran helped countries sit around a table to settle their differences and issues, so that we will not witness issues like war in Iraq and Libya,” he said.
“We call on all related sides to abide by their commitments. China is specially calling for lifting financial restrictions on Iran.”
He also said that Iran’s distance to membership in Shanghai Cooperation Organization has been little.
The Chinese envoy said that Iran has complied with its commitments on JCPOA, and that rebuilding Arak Heavy Reactor has begun with the countries, adding the reactor is now in the phase of designing.
“China is ready for cooperation with Iran in peaceful use of nuclear energy and meeting Iran’s needs. We are also set for participation in more extended areas. The two countries are in talks on the number of model of atomic reactors.”
China believes that the JCPOA is a ‘historic’ deal, he said.
Pang Sen, also referred to the visit of Chinese president to Iran, and said bilateral relations between the two sides improved strategically after the visit.
The president is monitoring all agreements signed by Iran during the travel, he said.
