Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s behavior at Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez’s funeral displeased Iran’s conservative Muslim leaders.
According to Iranian media, the fact that Ahmadinejad hugged Chavez’s grieving mother caused a storm of controversy among Muslim leaders.
The clerics from the Kum Religious Centre described the Iranian President’s action as “inappropriate.”
The publication of a photo that shows the President consoling Chavez’s mother triggered criticism.
The conservative clergy have also condemned the Iranian President for his eulogy of Chavez where he called Chavez a martyr and said he “will come again to redeem mankind.”
