Addressing a training program on Monday at the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum's locality, Hamid Reza Araqi said Iran consumes 700 million cubic meters of gas in various sectors domestically which will soar up to 1.2 bcm/d.
He said optimization of consumption inside the country can generate value added in the sector and open up new resources for exports.
The official further said NIGC set a new record in gas delivery to power plants in the previous week by transferring 250 mcm/d.
Currently 90% of Iranian power plants are run by natural gas, Araqi added.
