Ahvaz, Khuzestan Prov., Aug 6, IRNA – Fire broke out Saturday afternoon in the Bandar Imam Petrochemical Complex is under control, Mahshahr Governor Mansour Qamar told IRNA.
'Most of the fire has been contained,' Qamar said, adding that operations are underway to completely contain the fire.
The Crisis Management Commander in Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (PETZONE) Omid Shahidinia had said earlier that all the local firefighters have been dispatched to the area to extinguish fire in the BDSR depot.
Bandar Imam Petrochemical Complex is a petrochemical facility in Mahshahr PETZONE and its products are ethane, butane, propane, ethylene, pentane, gasoline pyrolysis, crude residue, xyelens, rafinite, heavy aromatics and Paraxylene (PX).
It is the first major producer of petrochemical products in Iran for its high production capacity.
The complex owns three subsidiary companies, namely Bandar Imam Processing Company, Kimia and Besparan.
