Tehran, Aug 19, IRNA – Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi underlined that strengthening of relations among Persian Gulf countries is based on the regional nations' interests.
'It goes without saying that strengthening of bilateral ties with each of the Persian Gulf countries will help to the regional security and is based on regional nations' interests,' Boroujerdi said.
Boroujerdi also welcomed the recent statements by Kuwaiti Parliament Speaker Marzouq al-Qanim who underlined the need for preparing the necessary grounds for strengthening of relations with Iran by Kuwait and other member-states of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC).
He pointed to al-Qanim's recent statements about Iran, and said, 'His recent statements are based on a policy that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always declared in the region.'
Boroujerdi went on to say that having the best of relations with the neighboring countries is part of Iran's fixed foreign policy.
'We welcome Kuwaiti parliament speaker's statements to improve and strengthen bilateral ties with that country and other Arab countries of the Persian Gulf,' he added.
