29 Aug 2016 - 14:28

August 29, The Iran Project – Closing ceremony of the first American Human Rights Art Festival was held in Tehran’s Hozeh Honari on Sunday with the participation of Iran's former minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyed Mohammad Hosseini, IRGC commander Saeed Ghasemi, a number of foreign guests and a group of writers and artists, as well.

Iran's former minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyed Mohammad Hosseini said in the closing ceremony that from 1330 to 1395, America attacked different countries more than 30 times. And today we see the country’s crimes in Yemen, Iraq and Syria.

Having been supported by the US, MEK assassinated more than 17 thousand Iranians, including former President Mohammad Ali Rajaei and then-Prime Minister Mohammad Javad Bahonar, Hosseini noted.

On August 30, 1981, President Rajaei, Prime Minister Bahonar and several other Iranian officials had convened at the Tehran office of the Iranian prime minister in a meeting of Iran’s Supreme Defense Council when a bomb explosion ripped through the building.

He also urged revolutionary artists to work on these subjects showing American human rights, saying these artworks would be welcomed at home and abroad.

In another part of the ceremony, the charge d'affaires of Cuba pointed out that America and its allies have always been violating people’s rights in different parts of the world, saying many examples of coup, conspiracy to overthrow governments, attacking different countries that leads to the deaths of millions of innocent people are among US oppressive measures that have been taken for years.

He went on to say that what happened in Afghanistan and Iraq and now we see it in Syria shows that the United States violated the sovereignty of these countries and  its main ally in the region, i.e. Israel as well has been violating the rights of Palestinians.

Finally, the books of "American Human Rights" and "Human Rights Situation in America" were unveiled in the ceremony.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei suggested holding American human rights week in Iran from this year.

Iran annually holds ‘American human rights week’ from June 25 to July 2.
