TEHRAN, Aug. 29 (MNA) – AEOI deputy Zarean has announced the setting up of a pilot plant for production of stable isotopes which adds Iran to the short list of global producers.


Deputy Head of the Atomic Energy Organization Asghar Zarean made the remarks asserting “only countries like Germany, Russia or Ireland could produce stable isotopes while Iran has also joined them.”

“The pilot plant to produce raw material for stable isotope was put into operation today in Uranium Conversion Facility (UCF) of Isfahan,” said the official Sunday, congratulating the Iranian nation on the great achievement.

He said the project will enter the commercial phase in the next three months in order to meet domestic demands as well as to provide grounds for exports of raw materials for the production of stable isotopes.

Zarean went on to enumerate major producers of stable isotopes including Germany, Russia, Ireland as well as two other countries while Iran has also joined the club by exploiting indigenous technical knowledge and following tenets of Resistance Economy.

He further touched upon uses of stable isotopes in various areas including oil, gas and petrochemical industries in addition to medical arenas radiotherapy and radiography.

“Iranian experts have managed to take advantage of the accumulated knowledge in the industry while other measures will be taken as fiber laser laboratories were also inaugurated today at Iran's National Laser Research Center,” he continued.

The official said Atomic Energy Organization has accomplished various noteworthy projects after JCPOA implementation with great management of AEOI head Ali Akbar Salehi; “more pieces of good news will be released on April 07, 2017 on the occasion of Iran's National Nuclear Technology Day.”

Asghar Zarean maintained that AEOI takes serious steps towards standardization of procedures and promotion of various products radiopharmaceuticals and heavy water among the others.

“Earlier in August, the Security Operations Center (SOC) was launched to monitor threats to the Atomic Energy Organization while today the second center was opened in Arak heavy water nuclear reactor complex," concluded the official.
