TEHRAN, Sep 05 (Shana) -- Director of International Affairs at National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Mohsen Qamsari says Iran feeds 40 refineries in the world by its crude oil.
Speaking to Shana, the official said the Iraqi Kurdistan Region has called for export of its crude oil through Iran, adding, "This is just a proposal from them and has not become practical yet."
He said IKR sends its oil to Turkey's Ceyhan by two pipelines from where it is exported to international destinations.
"I believe certain preliminaries must be obtained before Iran can export IKR's oil including laying down new pipelines and construction of adjoining facilities," he said. "Otherwise the oil will have to be transferred through roads that will be pretty costly."
Instead, he suggested, Iran can consider oil swap with IKR and consume its oil in its refineries.
