Iranian female sports shooter Sareh Javanmardi has put in a brilliant performance at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and claimed the top podium place in the P2 10m air pistol shooting competitions of the major international multi-sport event.
On Friday, the 31-year-old London 2012 Paralympic Games bronze medalist scored 193.4 points to finish in the first place and win the gold medal at the Olympic Shooting Centre.
Her Ukrainian opponent Olga Kovalchu earned 191.2 points to land in the second spot and scoop up the silver medal.
Turkish female athlete Aysegul Pehlivanlar collected 172.3 points altogether and received the bronze.
The shooting competitions at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games started on September 8, and will run through September 14.
The Islamic Republic of Iran National Paralympic Committee has dispatched a 111-strong delegation, dubbed Mina Caravan, to the twelve-day-long sporting event. Iranian sportsmen and women are in action in 12 different sports.
Iranian athletes have already taken home two medals - one gold and one silver - and the Islamic Republic is in the 14th slot of the medal count table.
China is on the top of the medal count table with 21 (8 gold, 9 silver, 4 bronze).
Great Britain is second with 15 medals (6 gold, 4 silver, 5 bronze), and Uzbekistan is third with a total of 8 medals (3 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze).
Brazil, the United States, Tunisia, Greece, South Korea, France and the Netherlands occupy the 4th to 10th places respectively.
