TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani said the US claims about supporting human rights and its criticism of other countries are ridiculous and illogical as Washington has directly and indirectly killed thousands of civilians and supported the terrorists in different parts of the world.
"The US has directly killed many civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan and has destroyed their infrastructural facilities; recently in Syria's Deir Ezzur region, they have bombed the Syrian army forces and helped the terrorists this way. On the other hand, the US has equipped Saudi Arabia with different weapons which are unconventional in quantity and quality to be used in attacks against the innocent Yemeni people," Amoli Larijani said, addressing Judiciary officials in Tehran on Monday.
"Therefore, with such an approach and performance, speaking of human rights before the world public opinion is unreasonable, illogical and scandalous," he added.
Amoli Larijani referred to the US congress's approval against Iran under the pretext of human rights allegations, and said, "Certainly such allegations will have no impact on the Islamic Republic actions and performance."
In relevant remarks in June, Deputy Head of Iran's Human Rights Headquarters for International Affairs Kazzem Qaribabadi announced that Tehran plans to display the numerous cases of Washington's severe violations of human rights in the US and in other world states.
"There are numerous instances of human rights violations in the US, but there are a few freedom-seeking countries in the world which state these cases in a straightforward manner and the Islamic Republic of Iran is an independent country which will study this case," Qaribabadi said.
He referred to the instances of human rights violations by Washington inside the US, and said while the blacks constitute a rather smaller part of the US population, most of the prisoners in the country are blacks and every 36 hours, a black citizen is killed by the US police.
Qaribabadi also underlined the US violations of human rights in other countries, and said Washington's war on Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya, its support for the dictatorial regimes and coups and imposing sanctions against other countries, including Iran, which has left irreparable impacts on ordinary people's lives are instances of the US violation of human rights outside the country.
He also said that Iran prepared a 130-page book on the US violation of human rights in 2015.
In November, 2010, the Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a report on the violation of human rights by the US inside and outside its borders, and urged Washington to sign the international conventions which prohibit such crimes.
It was stressed in the Foreign Ministry report that the United States, as a self-proclaimed standard bearer of defense for human rights in the world, has despite the international community and the UN demand, and even despite President Barack Obama's promise, still not shut down the Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib horrendous prisons.
It is stressed in the report that the United States has not yet joined the most important convention related to the economic, social and cultural rights that is among the most important human rights documents.
The Children's Rights Committee of the United Nations, too, has announced that the United States has been one of the greatest producers and distributors of the world child pornography products, while it is now one of the only two countries in the world that have not yet joined the International Children's Rights Convention.
On January 27, 2014, Iran’s Basij (Volunteer) Force released a comprehensive report on the violation of human rights by the US inside the country and abroad.
The report was unveiled in a ceremony participated by Commander of Iran's Basij Force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, Esfandiari who is also the lieutenant commander of Basij Force, Parliament's First Vice-Speaker Hassan Aboutorabi Fard, Iranian Judiciary Chief Sadeq Amoli Larijani and a number of Judiciary officials and experts.
The report referred to different cases of violation of human rights by the US, including the executions, arbitrary detentions, torture of inmates, violation of people’s privacy, violation of the rights of the minorities, Muslims and native Americans, racism and US President Barack Obama’s opposition to the freedom of expression.
