CBI chief: Iran-Greece cooperation prospect promising

Athens, Oct. 1, IRNA – Governor of Central Bank of Iran Valiollah Seif who is on a visit here at the invitation of his Greek counterpart described his talks with Greek officials as useful and valuable.


'The two countries' officials are determined to broaden their relations in different economic and trade fields,' Seif said.

He said that his visit to Greece took place at the invitation of his Greek counterpart, adding that the two sides had constructive talks on the expansion of banking relations.

Governor of Central Bank of Greece in a meeting with Seif said that Athens supports Iran's joining the international banking system.

'We welcome joining of Iran's banking system to international system and we are ready to expedite the expansion of banking relations between Athens and Tehran,' the Greek Central Bank governor said.

The governors of the central banks of Iran and Greece explored avenues for the expansion of their banking relations, and underlined the importance of the relations as a prelude to the broadening of trade and economic cooperation.

Seif, for his part, said that the record of relations and historical and cultural commonalities between the two countries as well as good economic relations in the past helps to boost trade transactions and economic activies between Iran and Greece through expediting restoration of brokerage relations between the two countries' banks.
