Iranian President hopes for no possible obstacles in Tehran-Moscow relations

Sputnik- Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said he hoped to eliminate any kind of possible obstacles to the development of relations between Moscow and Tehran, in particular, during the upcoming intergovernmental commission meeting.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Rouhani held a phone call, when Putin offered condolences to Iran’s counterpart on the recent deadly train crash in northern Iran. The sides also exchanged views on the bilateral relations and prospects of mutual interest.

According to Rouhani's statement, published on his website, Tehran hoped that any potential obstacles to the development of bilateral relations would be addressed during the December 13 intergovernmental commission meeting in Tehran, and there would be changes, including those on the inter-bank cooperation and the visa regime.

Putin and Rouhani, signed a deal that eased bilateral visa rules during Putin’s latest visit to Tehran in 2015. The Iranian president also recalled the fruitful cooperation between Tehran and Moscow in countering terrorism, in particular, in Syria.

The meeting of thje Russian-Iranian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, due to be held on December 13, would be chaired by Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi.
