IRNA – Iran’s Islamic Coalition Party has named Head of ICP Central Council Mostafa Mirsalim as its final candidate to run in the next presidential election to be held in May 2017.
The announcement was made by ICP Secretary-General Mohammad-Nabi Habibi during the party’s latest annual meeting, ICP telegram channel reported on Thursday.
Mirsalim, 69, is a conservative politician and engineer who served as the country’s minister of culture and Islamic Guidance from 1994-1997.
From 1981 to 1989, he served as the advisor to then president Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
