IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman, Bahram Qasemi, said on Monday that Iran does not favor a severing of relations with Saudi Arabia forever.
Qasemi made the remarks in his weekly press conference.
He said that however, Saudi government still insists to continue the previous path.
'The country still beats the former drum; we have not yet observed any positive and constructive prospect on part of Saudi Arabia.'
'We are willing to have conventional, appropriate and favorable relations with all the neighboring and regional countries and we have made efforts within framework of mutual respect and national interests,' the spokesman said.
It was Saudi Arabia that began unfriendly relations under different pretexts which finally led to severance of relations between the two countries, he added.
'If Saudi Arabia makes drastic changes in its approach towards Iran, and we do observe such a change, it can be a prelude to other issues,' added Qasemi.
