IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani was officially welcomed by Sultan of Oman Qaboos bin Said al Said on Wednesday in Muscat.

After the national anthems of Iran and Oman were played, Rouhani and Sultan of Oman introduced members of high-ranking delegations.

21 gunshots were fired off as a sign of salute and friendship during the welcome ceremony.

President Rouhani and Qaboos bin Said are to review the most important bilateral, regional and international issues in their talks.

Iranian and Omani delegations are to discuss ways of reinforcing ties and cooperation between Tehran and Muscat.

Prior to his trip to Oman this morning, President Rouhani said here Wednesday that
Iran did welcome the message of the six Persian Gulf littoral states delivered to the country by the Kuwaiti government.

The president said he is to hold talks with officials of two members of the [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council [P]GCC on issues of mutual interest.
