IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi ruled out any connection between a draft resolution and the recent visit of Sweden’s prime minister to Tehran.
“Presentation of human rights draft resolution is not something new and it has nothing to do with recent visit by Swedish prime minister to Iran,” Qasemi said.
Qasemi’s remarks came in reaction to certain media reports claiming that the Swedish premier has visited Iran to discuss human rights issues in Iran.
“We expect the media to accurately study any subject before commenting on anything in the field of foreign policy,” the foreign ministry spokesman said.
“Unfortunately, due to the negative atmosphere created against Iran in a bid to promote Iranophobia current since seven years ago several western countries led by the US and the Zionist regime in a joint effort prepare a draft resolution against Iran in the Human Rights Council in Geneva every year,” Qasemi added.
He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the measures by any country is preparing human rights resolution, adding, “We believe on the basis of our diplomatic principles that such measures are unfair, incorrect and against the realities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
