Iran, S Korea voice resolve to expand consular ties

MNA– Iranian and Korean consulates have agreed to expand cooperation in various fields of fighting terrorism and organized crime, as well as visa issuance and promotion of tourism.Iranian Foreign Ministry's Director-General for Consular Affairs Ali Chegini heading a delegation arrived in Seoul on Monday to take part in a joint consular meeting with South Korean officials.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, he said good agreements were reached during the consular meeting as well as during his talks with Korean deputy FM and officials in charge of tourism affairs, adding that the two sides have voiced keen interest in expanding relations in various fields.

Increasing police cooperation, maximizing the number of tourists to the two countries, combating drug trafficking, human trafficking, organized crime and most importantly, terrorism, were among the key topics of discussion in the meetings, which, according to Chegini, were warmly welcomed by the Korean side.

The sides also discussed the implementation process of agreements and documents signed during the visits of senior officials of the two countries.
