Iran cooking oil price surges after currency rule change
Iranian meat and cooking oil prices surged after the government stopped providing foreign currencies at a preferential exchange rate to importers of essential goods, the Tehran-based Shargh newspaper and other local media reported.

 
Russia special envoy visits Tehran to discuss regional issues
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy for the Middle East has arrived in the Iranian capital, Tehran, to discuss regional developments with Iranian officials.

Mikhail Bogdanov, who is also Russia’s deputy foreign minister, arrived in Tehran with his entourage on Wednesday.

 
Iran renews call for N. free Middle East
Iran warned nations about the major threat posed by Israel’s nuclear arsenals to global peace and security, and once again called for the establishment of a nuclear-free Middle East.

 
Earthquake hits two provinces of Iran
An earthquake took place near the Gulpaygan city in Iranian province of Isfahan at 07:39 (local time) on Wednesday, ILNA news agency reported.

According to the seismological service of the Tehran University, the earthquake measured 4.9 on the Richter scale.

 
India’s Iran oil imports plunge 26.5 pct in FY13 – trade
India cut crude imports from Iran by 26.5 percent in the year ended March 31, data from trade sources showed, as buyers struggled with insurance and payment problems created by sanctions that now threaten to halt purchases altogether.

India, the world’s fourth-biggest oil importer, relies on imports for 80 percent of its crude needs and has struggled to wean itself off Iranian supplies under pressure from western sanctions that target Tehran’s disputed nuclear plans.
