IRNA -- Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Sunday that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Algeria have very consolidated relations on economic and political issues both in the international scene.

Zarif made the remarks in a joint press conference on Sunday with his Algerian counterpart Abdelkader Messahel focusing on regional developments mainly those in Yemen, Libya, Syria and Iraq.

The two sides exchanged views on the expansion of economic cooperation in various sectors such as auto industry, road and building construction.

The two sides had very fruitful talks on regional issues such as fight against terrorism and extremism, Zarif said.

Algerian foreign minister, for his part, called for fight against terrorism and extremism and highlighted significant role of democracy in attaining the goal.

Regional crisis should be resolved without interference of foreign forces and respect to the countries’ sovereignty, Algerian foreign minister said.

Differences in Arab world have already existed such as current crisis in Syria, but if all should pay respect to the nations' sovereignty and legal governments as well as people's demands, Messahel said, adding that foreign interferences in Libya is the root cause of the country's problems.

If foreign forces had not interfered in Syria, Libya and Yemen, their problems would have been resolved much earlier, he said.

Nations’ authority should be recognized and respected, he underlined.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, heading a political delegation, arrived in Algeria on Sunday to confer with the country’s high-ranking officials on issues of mutual interest along with global developments.
