MNA – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has forwarded a message of congratulation to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on his election as Pakistan’s new prime minister.


In his message forwarded on Sunday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani congratulated Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on his election as Pakistan’s new prime minister.

President Rouhani voiced hope for further development of relations in various fields and expansion of bilateral cooperation during Abbasi’s term in office.

He also prayed for the prime minister’s continued health and success, as well as the Pakistani nation’s felicity and prosperity.

Abbasi was sworn in as premier earlier this month after being elected prime minister with 221 votes. He succeeds Nawaz Sharif who resigned after the Supreme Court ruling on the Panama papers.
