MNA – Iran’s security chief has extended his condolences to the nation and government of Iraq over the death of the country’s former president Jalal Talabani.

In his message, Shamkhani stressed the late Talabani’s influential role in creating agreements and understanding between different ethnic, religious and political groups of the country, the outcomes of which are stability, forward movement and reduction of suffering among Iraqi people.

A part of his message is as follows:

“Jalal Talabani was a tireless fighter and a shrewd and insightful politician who made so many sacrifices in the path to liberate the land of Iraq from Saddam’s dictatorship and Ba’ath Party. Following that, he tried to salvage and promote Iraq’s international status and its past glory with all his might.”
