Tasnim – Senior Iranian cleric Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi said the recent shooting in the US city of Las Vegas, which killed dozens of people, proved to the world the country’s inability to maintain order and security.
In a speech in the central city of Qom on Saturday, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi praised the Iranian Police for ensuring the security of the mourning ceremonies recently held across the country and compared the security situation of the Islamic Republic with that of the US.
The incident that occurred during a concert in the US and the massacre of a large number of people demonstrated lack of security in that country, he said.
The cleric added that it also highlighted the US police’s weakness in establishing order and peace in the country.
On Sunday night, retired accountant Stephen Paddock, 64, carried out the deadliest mass shooting in the US history by opening fire on concertgoers in Las Vegas.
Death toll from the attack reached 59 on Tuesday, while more than 500 were wounded.
