TEHRAN, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Iran's presidential candidate Ali- Akbar Velayati said the principlist candidates for the upcoming presidential election will soon show more convergence to boost their chance of winning the race, Fars news agency reported on Sunday.
Velayati, a member of the Principlist Coalition of 2+1 and senior advisor to Supreme Leader of the Islamic republic Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said "We are loyal to our covenant even if we eventually choose a person other than the three of us (coalition members). All the three of us believe it and there is no difference and divisions among us."

The Principlist Coalition of 2+1 also includes Mayor of Tehran, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, and lawmaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, who both have registered for the presidential contest.

A total of 686 candidates have registered for the upcoming presidential election slated for June 14.

The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term through a national election.
