MNA – Senator Ted Cruz has accused the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of being unable to verify Iran’s compliance under the JCPOA, calling for “forceful” measures to “improve” IAEA access.
Senator Ted Cruz in a tweet on Monday called on US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley to “lead in imposing forceful measures to improve IAEA access, reporting, and verification on Iran.”
He followed that tweet with another one in which he criticized the JCPOA’s inspection regime, saying “the IAEA lacks ability to verify nuclear aspect on Iran military sites because JCPOA inspection regime's designed to facilitate cheating.”
The US senator’s allegations against the landmark Iran nuclear deal come as the IAEA’s Chief Yukiya Amano in a Sunday visit to Iran confirmed the Islamic Republic’s full compliance with its nuclear-related commitments under the JCPOA.
In all of the eight reports published on Iran’s compliance, the IAEA inspectors have reported no issue with their verification effort.
