MNA – Iranian weightlifters won their first World Weightlifting Championship 2017, which was held in Anaheim, Los Angeles, CA, USA from 28 November to 5 December.
Saeed Ali Hosseini and Behdad Salimi were two last Iranian weightlifters who won silver and bronze medals respectively on the last day of the competitions, leading the Iranian team to win the completion with 509 points.
Behdad Salimi won the third place with a total of 453 kg. Saeed Ali Hosseini, who, after spending eight years behind his absence for the first time in the World Championships, won a silver medal of 457kg. Also, at that weight, Lasha Talahhadze, a Georgian weightlifter and the Olympic champion, ranked the first and won gold.
Earlier, Kianoush Rostami had won a silver medal at 85 kg, Sohrab Moradi three gold medals at 94 kg, Sayed Ayyub Mousavi gained two bronzes and Ali Hashemi two gold medals and one bronze.
Iran's Weightlifting Team with 8 weightlifters entered the world championship, which eventually won 5 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 6 bronzes and for the first time with 509 points won the world championship.
