IRNA – A local official said on Tuesday that so far over 1,500 aftershocks have been registered following a 7.3-magnitude earthquake in the town of Sarpol-e Zahab, in western Province of Kermanshah on November 12, 2017.
Talking to IRNA, Head of Kermanshah Seismology Network Farhad Forouzi said the aftershocks were registered until 10:00 local time (06:30 GMT) Tuesday (Dec 26) morning.
He added that the magnitude of 291 of aftershocks were over 3 on Richter scale and 52 over 4.
A powerful 7.3-magnitude earthquake in Sarpol-e Zahab killed 620 people and injured 12,386 individuals.
The quake also damaged over 10 townships, 1,930 villages and 87,000 residential units in western Iran.
