Tasnim– Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami warned about US plots against some regional nations and said Washington is seeking to create instability in the region in line with the interests of the Israeli regime.
In a telephone conversation with his Pakistani counterpart Khurram Dastgir Khan on Thursday, Brigadier General Hatami said the conditions of the region and the Islamic Ummah (community) necessitate more consultations between Tehran and Islamabad.
He also referred to US schemes against regional countries, saying, “The Americans always blame others for their failures in various parts of the world and follow the strategy of the Zionist regime to destabilize the region.”
The Iranian defense minister further emphasized that the increase in illicit crop cultivation and the spread of terrorism in Afghanistan, the escalation of insecurity and the daily killing of dozens of innocent people in Afghanistan, Yemen, Iraq, and Syria, are the outcome of the foolish policies of the US.
Khurram Dastgir Khan, for his part, called for closer defense ties between Iran and Pakistan in various areas and said regional developments require the two countries to boost their cooperation more than ever.
Tehran and Islamabad have recently ramped up efforts to promote bilateral relations between the two countries in various areas, including defense.
Back in November, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa paid an official visit to Iran to discuss closer security and defense cooperation between the two neighbors.
