Financial Tribune- Egg prices decreased by 14.3% and reached 126,000-180,000 rials ($2.8-4.1 based on Monday’s exchange rates) during the week to January 5 compared with the previous week, the Central Bank of Iran announced.
However, the CBI figures show prices witnessed a 16.4% growth during the month to January 5 compared to the month before and a 45.8% rise during the year to date compared to the year before, IRNA reported. Egg prices began to soar in Iran following an outbreak of avian flu that has led to the cull of millions of chickens so far. The government is importing eggs to avoid a shortage.
