Iranian Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade Mehdi Ghazanfari says Iran and Bangladesh have agreed to triple bilateral trade over the next three years.
“It was decided that the current USD 100-million trade volume increase two- to three-fold in the next three years,” said the minister upon his return from a visit to Bangladesh on Friday.
Ghazanfari had travelled to Bangladesh to participate in the fifth meeting of the Iran-Bangladesh Joint Economic Commission.
The Iranian minister said that, during the discussions he had with Bangladeshi officials, several rail industry projects were assigned to Iranian contractors.
The two sides also had fruitful talks on commercial transactions through banking systems and barter, said the top official.
Under the agreements, a delegation of Bangladeshi merchants plan to meet Iranian businessmen in Tehran to explore ways of exchanging goods, Ghazanfari further said.
It was also agreed that a delegation of Bangladeshi petroleum experts hold meetings with Iranian Oil Ministry officials to discuss mutual transactions in oil, gas and petrochemical industries, he pointed out.
