IRNA – A Danish company has expressed readiness to invest in a project for transferring water from Gulf of Oman to Iran's central Province, Yazd.
In a meeting held on Friday at Yazd investment services center, the representatives of a Danish investment company and the officials of the province discussed ways of investment by foreign firms, as well as the implementation of the project.
Yazd governor Mahmoud Zamani called upon the respective officials to put all their weight behind the project so that it will be implemented as soon as possible.
The Danish representative said that in case of the willingness of the provincial officials, the company is ready to give financial support.
The Danish company, whose name is not revealed, is among the most famous companies worldwide in terms of water transfer, and has a good record of implementing water projects in other countries.
Yazd Province has been facing precipitation shortage during recent years.
Water sources in the province does not suffice its water needs and the only way to supply water is to transfer it from the Gulf of Oman, according to experts.
Yazd is the fourth industrially developed province and the eighth exporter of non-oil products in Iran.
