IRNA – The 38th Takhti Cup International Freestyle Wrestling Tournament began in Iran's northwestern city of Tabriz on Thursday.


The tournament will host wrestlers from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Hungary, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Ukraine, and Iran.

A total of 160 wrestlers in 10 weight classes will compete in the tournament, slated for Feb 8-9.

The opening ceremony of the contests will be held at 16 p.m. local time (12:30 GMT) on Thursday. Iran's Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Masoud Soltanifar is expected to attend the ceremony.
