IRNA – Talks on re-designing Arak reactor will continue next week, a senior official said on Sunday.
Re-designing of Arak reactor is at its final stages and it is at the stage of detailed design, Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi told reporters.
Next week, the Iranian negotiators will talk on the installation of the Arak reactor's equipment, he added.
Kamalvandi said that Fordow will remain in this status till presence of Iran in the nuclear deal.
Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi has said earlier that designing of Arak reactor platform has been completed, as it has received the seal of approval.
Commenting on the latest situation concerning redesigning of Arak nuclear reactor, he added that conceptual redesigning of Arak reactor has ended and the Chinese have approved that while detailed redesign is currently underway and the Chinese are engaged in examining the section.
The two countries’ experts will hold specialized negotiations, which will soon be approved too. Afterwards the necessary equipment will be installed, he said.
As per the 2015 nuclear deal, officially known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran is in charge of redesigning Arak reactor, Salehi said, noting, “We will conduct designing to be approved by the Chinese.”
“Redesigning of Arak reactor was scheduled to end within five years, but we carried it out ahead of schedule,” he said, hoping that it will be completed in the remaining period of one and half a years.
