Press TV - Iranian powerlifter Mohammad Reiesi has set a new aggregate record in the 84-kilogram weight class of the World University Powerlifting Cup in the Czech Republic, improving the previous record by nearly 20 kilograms.
On Thursday, Reiesi cleared the bar at 277.5 kilograms in his squat attempt, and clinched the gold medal.
His Russian opponent lifted up 257.5 kilograms to claim the silver medal, while a contestant from Poland took the bronze with 255 kilograms.
The young Iranian sportsman then elevated 292.5 kilograms in the deadlift and finished as the vice champion.
Finally, Reiesi snatched another gold medal with an aggregate of 717.5 kilograms, bettering the previous record by 17.5 kilogram.
The World University Powerlifting Cup kicked off in the western Czech city of Pilsen on July 8, and will run through July 14, 2018.
