IRNA – Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi in a message expressed congratulations on the victory of Iran's junior weightlifting team in the world championships.
In his message released on Sunday, Qasemi congratulated the Iranian nation, weightlifters and sports officials on the occasion.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani earlier in separate messages congratulated junior weightlifters’ victory.
The 2018 IWF Junior World Championships began in Tashkent on July 6 and ended on Saturday.
Iran won 8,512 scores to take the first place.
Hossein Soltani won two silver and a bronze medals, Rasoul Motamedi a bronze medal, Amir Azizi a bronze medal and Ali Davoodi two gold and a silver medals.
Uzbekistan and Turkey ranked second and third, respectively in the list. The US ranked fourth.
Iran had already been crowned champion in 2017 Tokyo competitions and 2016 Georgia contests.
