Tasnim – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri paid a visit to a northwestern Pakistani border province, during which he was briefed on the measures Pakistan has taken to secure its common frontier with Afghanistan and tackle terrorism.
Accompanied by ranking Pakistani commanders, the top Iranian general visited the Muslim country’s northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which borders Afghanistan.
Major General Baqeri, who is in Pakistan for talks with senior political and military officials, was briefed on the anti-terror measures and military operations by the Pakistani army during a 6-hour tour of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its tribal areas.
The visit provided an opportunity for the exchange of experiences between Iran and Pakistan in the fight against terrorism.
Baqeri arrived in Pakistan on Monday for an official visit.
He has already held talks with his Pakistani counterpart, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, President Mamnoon Hussain, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, and Foreign Minister Abdullah Hussain Haroon.
