Financial Tribune - Iraq’s Agriculture Ministry had banned the import of Iranian garlic in 2015, which has now been lifted, said Iran’s commercial attaché to Iraq, Nasser Behzad, adding that it’s time to resume exports.
Noting that Iran produces over 100,000 tons of garlic annually, the official said the provinces of Khorasan Razavi, Hamedan, Semnan, Mazandaran, Khuzestan, Hormozgan, Markazi and Zanjan are the main garlic production hubs in Iran, Trade Promotion Organization of Iran reported on its website.
Besides Iraq, Iran also exports garlic to Turkmenistan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Qatar, Kuwait, Kazakhstan and Russia.
