IRNA – Iraq’s first vice-president blamed the Iraqi security forces’ failure in encountering thugs.

Nouri al-Maliki in a tweet published on Saturday said, Iraqi security forces took improper and belated action against attackers.

Former Prime Minster of Iraq referred to security guards’ deficiency in controlling attacking groups and said, 'People felt disappointed by the weak performance of security bodies and started to encounter the rogue thugs to protect other governmental organizations.'

Al-Maliki also criticized the parliaments' call upon reviewing Basra events initiated by Muqtada al-Sadr, adding, 'Parliaments’ objective is to wrap up its destructive actions, including attacks on the government, political parties, and Hashd al-Shaabi.

According to Iraq’s Ministry of Health, the new round of Basra demonstrations and conflicts have claimed 11 lives and hundreds of injuries from Sept 1.

Some radical protestors attacked governmental offices and party headquarters on Friday, and fired some buildings as well as Iran’s Consulate in Basra.
