IRNA - The European Union in a statement issues on Sunday extended condolences to the families of victims and people of Iran over a terror attack in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz.
Maja Kocijancic, spokeswoman for the EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, in the statement referred to the terrorist attack on a military parade which left at least 25 dead and scores of others wounded and expressed condolences to the families of the victims and the Iranian people. She also wished swift recovery for the wounded.
At least 25 people were killed and more than 60 others injured during Saturday morning terror attack in Ahvaz, capital of Khuzestan Province, in southwestern Iran.
“The terrorists disguised as the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Basiji (volunteer) forces opened fire at the authorities and people from behind the stand during the parade,' Governor of Khuzestan Gholam-Reza Shariati said earlier.
The self-proclaimed Saudi-affiliated Al-Ahwaz terrorist group claimed the responsibility for the attack.
The Iranian government declared Monday, September 23 as a day of public mourning.
