IRNA – Ambassadors of the Netherlands and Denmark expressed readiness for investigating the background of the self-proclaimed Saudi-affiliated Al-Ahwaz terrorist group that claimed the responsibility for Ahvaz attack.
The ambassadors expressed regret over the deadly attack in southwestern Iran, head of Iranian Foreign Ministry office in Khuzestan Mohammad Hadi Jazinizade told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday.
Jazinizade slammed the terrorist attack, saying it is the fruit of extremist and deviant thoughts.
The high-ranking Dutch and Danish diplomats were strongly objected for their countries' accommodating some members of the group who were responsible for the crime in Ahvaz, he added.
At least 25 people were killed and more than 60 others injured during Saturday morning terror attack in Ahvaz, capital of Khuzestan Province, in southwestern Iran.
“The terrorists disguised as the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Basiji (volunteer) forces opened fire at the authorities and people from behind the stand during the parade,' Governor of Khuzestan Gholam-Reza Shariati said earlier.
The self-proclaimed Saudi-affiliated Al-Ahwaz terrorist group claimed the responsibility for the attack.
The Iranian government declared Monday, September 24 as a day of public mourning.
