IRNA – Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called for political solution to crisis in Syria.
Zarif made the remarks Friday in a meeting with his Austrian counterpart Karin Kneissl which was held in New York on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
During the meeting both sides discussed Iran 2015 nuclear deal also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), US withdrawal from JCPOA, European countries' cooperation with Iran in preserving the nuclear agreement and meeting Iran economic interests.
the two foreign ministers also reviewed regional issues and fighting terrorism.
Zarif together with the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani arrived in New York on September 23 to attend the UNGA meeting.
While in New York, he has, so far, participated in the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit and held separate talks with P4+1 foreign ministers.
Zarif and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini in their first joint statement after the US withdrawal from JCPOA, underlined preserving the deal as well as meeting Iran's economic interests.
