IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to Iraq Iraj Masjedi appreciated Iraqi former president Foud Masoum’s four-year efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.
Masjedi attended Masoum’s residence late Tuesday to thank his incessant endeavors in line with enhancing Iran-Iraq relations.
Masjedi also described Masoum’s stances vis-à-vis regional developments and ties with Iran during his presidential tenure as valuable and effective.
He also reiterated Iran’s resolve for promoting relations, especially in the field of reconstruction and strengthening its infrastructures and boosting collaboration between the two countries’ private sectors.
Iraq's parliament elected the veteran Kurdish politician Barham Salih as the country's new president last week, a step toward forming a new government nearly five months after national elections.
Salih has named independent Shia candidate Adel Abdul Mahdi as prime minister-designate, after an inconclusive national election in May.
