IRNA - Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that Russia will defend its companies’ interests in Iran including against sanctions imposed on the country by the US.
Talking to reporters, he added that undoubtedly, necessary measures for defending Russian companies’ interests not only in Iran but also all over the world will be taken permanently.
On May 8, Trump withdrew the United States from the accord, struck under his predecessor Barack Obama, and pledged 'the highest level of economic sanction' against Iran.
Since the US withdrawal, Iran has opted to stay in the deal, at least for now, and cooperate with Europe to salvage it.
